in Lagos.
However, in response to his social media
rantings, Basket mouth also used the same
medium to make his voice heard by posting a
picture of a refrigerator and comparing the
amount of followers they both have on their
social media accounts and why he is even
wasting his time replying to his statement.
Revealing his plans for the first quarter of

by Mr President.”

team of Nigeria who won the World Scrabble
championship in 2015 and the National
Basketball team; D’Tigers.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has called on Chief Jim Nwobodo, a former governor of the old Anambra state, to explain how he shared the N500m allegedly received from Sambo Dasuki, the former national security adviser.

The OYC called on the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission to arrest Jim Nwobodo.
The Punch reports that the group also issued
Nwobodo a 21-day ultimatum to disclose
beneficiaries; otherwise, it would take
appropriate action to ensure that the full
weight of the law descended on him.
In a statement made by its national president,
Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the national
secretary, Okwu Nnabuike, on Tuesday, January
12, the OYC called on the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission to arrest the
elder statesman.
It also noted that some chieftains of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who were said
to have received funds from Dasuki, had
already disclosed how their sums were
disbursed.
“We charge Nwobodo to let Nigerians know
how he disbursed the N500 million which he
received from Sambo Dasuki. He should take
clue from Dasuki as well as Chief Tony Anenih,
who have since disclosed how they shared
money made available to them.”
“Since Nwobodo said the money was meant
for former president Goodluck Jonathan’s
mobilization campaign in the South-East, he
should let the world know how he disbursed
the money and all the South-East leaders and
politicians who received money from him and
how much he gave to each of them. If he
pocketed the money, he should also let the
world know,” the statement read in part.
According to the group, Nwobodo’s defection
from the PDP to the All Progressive Congress
(APC) is an attempt to avoid prosecution for
his alleged role in the arms deal scandal.
However, the OYC stressed that the defection
would not shield him or other politicians from
the law.
“We are aware that Nwobodo has decamped
to APC, and we agree with Nigerians, even
members of the APC, who have viewed his
defection as a ploy to evade justice.
“We also wish to remind him that President
Muhammdu Buhari jailed him as a military
head of state and so history is about to be
made as the same President may jail him
again – this time, he may bag a bigger
sentence.
“The EFCC should not hesitate to arrest all the
people, who had looted our commonwealth.
All we ask is that the commission should be
thorough in its arrest and prosecution. No
looter should go unpunished,” the group said.
Meanwhile, the South-East APC is not pleased
with Nwobodo’s entry into the
party. According to the party, the ex-governor
entered the APC through the window as a
fugitive running from justice.

A pro-Buhari group, under the aegis of Buhari Vanguard (BV), has faulted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for interfering with President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies and fight against corruption.

The group said the ongoing prosecution of
corrupt politicians and others was for the
development and growth of the nation, The
Guardian reports.
The group warned the opposition against
condemning and derailing the ongoing anti-
corruption drive of the president, which is
meant to bring Nigeria back to the path of
sanity.
In a statement signed by its national
coordinator, Musa Aliyu, the group said: “ We
categorically and unequivocally condemn in
the strongest terms any move by the PDP or
their agents to harass, intimidate or subvert
the effort of the present administration in the
fight against corruption by whipping political,
ethnic and religious sentiments.
“We and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians are
solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari
in his quest to fight corruption to a standstill
to make our dear nation once again be viable
and respected in the comity of nations,
thereby attracting investments from all over
the world.
“We of the Buhari Vanguard shall continue to
sensitise Nigerians on the laudable policies of
this administration aimed at bringing lasting
peace, stability and economic progress to our
dear nation .”
Buhari Vanguard noted that Buhari’s fight
against corruption was transparent and
transparent and devoid of political, ethnic and
religious colouration.
The group added that all the suspects of
looted public funds are presumed innocent
until they are proven guilty by a competent
court of law, calling on the PDP to allow the
rule of law to prevail.
Two days ago, some youths under the aegis of
the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN)
said it was in support of the anti-corruption
war by the administration of Buhari but
faulted the way the Economic and Financial
Crimmes Commission was handling the
corruption cases . The group said the anti-graft
commission’s ways of tracking suspects were
full of disappointments, calling on Buhari to
call them to order.

Super Eagles midfielder Fegor Ogude has revealed that his wife regained her freedom after he paid the sum of the N1.3million to her abductors.

Speaking in a chat with TheCable, Ogude who
currently plies his trade with Russian side
Amkar Perm said he paid N1.3m for his wife’s
release as against the N30m her abductors
had pressed for.
This is contrary to reports in some quarters
that the victim was rescued by officials of the
Department of State Services (DSS).
Fegor Ogude says he paid N1.3m to resuce his
wife
He said: “Well, I paid nothing much for her
release. I paid N1.3m, though they demanded
N30m.
“She is alright but I have to ensure that she
is.
“I have taken her to the hospital for proper
medical tests and checkup because the kind of
ordeal she must have gone through in the
hands of the armed men is nothing to be
taken for granted. I have to be sure that she
is very okay.
“In spite of the unexpected occurrence, I was
still a very happy man.
“You know that a lot of people will go there
and won’t come back alive, so I am happy
that she is alright and alive.
“She was taken to a very bad place, a swampy
forest, a dirty place to be kept for almost a
week. Imagine what she must have faced
during the number of days she was kept
there. But I am thanking God that I got her
back alive.
“It is her life that’s the most important thing
to me.”
Naij.com recalls that Ogude’s wife, Maimunat,
was on January 4 abducted from her family
home in Warri, Delta state and the kidnappers
reportedly demanded a ransom of N30m.
However, six days later, Timi Ebikagboro, the
media officer of Nigeria U-23 team, disclosed
on Sunday night, January 10, that Maimunat
was ‘now a free woman.’

Dr Alex Otti, has raised the alarm over threats to his life. The Abia State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has lamented over several attempts to eliminate him.

Dr Otti, who was declared duly elected
governor by a Court of Appeal sitting in
Owerri, Imo state, said in Lagos yesterday that
all attempts on his life will fail because he is
holding in trust the mandate of the people of
Abia state.
The APGA flagbearer said he will not bow to
pressure nor give in to fear. He expressed
absolute faith in God, adding that those after
his life were merely wasting their time.
He said: “There have been threats to my life
but I do not fear because I am a child of God.
My Bible says ‘touch not my anointed and do
my prophet no harm’.
“You must have heard the one that happened
in Abuja. I was in a place in Abuja from
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
morning, God told me to move away from
there and relocate to another town, so I
moved. On Thursday night, over 10 men
stormed my residence, killed my mobile
policeman and turned the place upside down.
God had taken me away then. So, I have no
fears…”
On December 31, 2015, the Court of
Appeal declared Otti winner of the April 11
and April 25 supplementary elections in the
state.
Otti in celebrating his court victory over
Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), restated his commitment to
assume the mantle of leadership freely given
to him by the people of the state. He said
nothing can stop him in the pursuit of his
mandate.
The APGA gubernatorial candidate for Abia
state, condemned the violence that greeted
the court’s announcement in Aba, the
commercial centre of the state. He alleged
that the violence in Aba was the handwork of
supporters of the PDP .
